The Internet Explorer browser is permanently shut down, marking the end of 27 years and the conclusion of an era!


Previously, on May 16, Microsoft announced on its official Weibo account that the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser will officially retire on June 16, after which its functions will be taken over by the Edge browser.

On May 16, Microsoft Edge announced on its official Weibo that the Microsoft IE browser will officially retire on June 16, after which its functions will be taken over by the Edge browser.

The Weibo post stated: Finally, after being hacked for so many years, IE is officially saying goodbye to everyone. The 27-year journey of IE will now be continued by Edge. Not long ago, the desktop market share of the Edge browser finally broke 10%—looking back at the glory of IE, little E feels that the road ahead is long and arduous, and I will seek to explore.

It is reported that in August 1995, one of Microsoft's most successful operating systems, Windows 95, was launched with the Rolling Stones' "Start Me Up". The startup music composed by ambient music master Brian Eno is still familiar to everyone today.

As the default browser for Windows 95, IE quickly captured the market, becoming the number one browser in global market share three years later, and peaked in 2003, occupying 95% of the global market.
